Run Devolutions Server on PostgreSQL

Devolutions Server 2026.3 adds PostgreSQL as a database option for self-hosted deployments on Windows or Linux, including ARM64. Microsoft SQL Server remains supported. There is no built-in tool yet to move an existing SQL Server database to PostgreSQL.

Devolutions Server 2026.3 adds PostgreSQL support for self-hosted deployments on Windows or Linux, including Linux on ARM64.

Many teams standardize on Linux and ARM64 hardware and already use PostgreSQL for other services. Until now, a self-hosted Devolutions Server deployment also required Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL). This added another database engine to manage, and MSSQL does not run on ARM64 hosts.

With the 2026.3 release, PostgreSQL can now serve as the database for a self-hosted deployment.

PostgreSQL is also open source. You do not need a separate commercial database license, and your deployment does not depend on a single database vendor.

Choose the database your team already runs

With PostgreSQL support, you can deploy Devolutions Server on Windows or Linux, including Linux on ARM64 hosts, without adding MSSQL. If your team already uses PostgreSQL, you can apply your existing PostgreSQL knowledge and monitoring practices.

This change began with a request from our community for a self-hosted PostgreSQL option. That request helped shape support for teams that want Devolutions Server to fit their existing infrastructure.

For teams that use Linux, this support also creates a simpler path to a complete Linux-based deployment.

Build a Linux-based deployment

Devolutions Server already runs on Linux and in Docker. PostgreSQL removes the remaining dependency on SQL Server. As a result, you can run the full deployment on the Linux infrastructure you already manage, including ARM64 hosts.

Already using SQL Server?

Microsoft SQL Server remains supported. When you upgrade to Devolutions Server 2026.3, your current database stays in place, and you do not need to take any action.

Switching engines: Devolutions Server 2026.3 does not currently include a tool to move an existing SQL Server database to PostgreSQL. Contact Devolutions Support before you plan a switch.

Get started with PostgreSQL

If PostgreSQL fits your environment, download Devolutions Server 2026.3 and review the system requirements before you plan the deployment. You can also read the Devolutions Server release notes for the full list of changes in this release.
