""This partnership is very exciting, since we believe the combination of our expertise will lead us to successful product development.""

David Hervieux, founder and CEO of enterprise software firm Devolutions, announced today that his firm has entered into a major partnership with Awake Coding Consulting Inc., creator of the globally-renowned open source project, FreeRDP.

As a result of the partnership, Devolutions will join Awake Coding Consulting and contribute its expertise, tools and financial resources to advance FreeRDP towards a feature complete cross-platform implementation of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

The partnership also means that users of Devolutions’ flagship product, Remote Desktop Manager (RDM), will be able to use it on multiple platforms and environments to make their lives simpler, easier and more productive.

Released under the commercially-friendly Apache license, FreeRDP was created by Awake Coding Consulting, an open source software consulting company based in Canada. Today, FreeRDP is widely considered by the vast majority of Microsoft partners and class-leading firms such as HP, Quest, Fujitsu and Thinstuff, to be the best, highest-quality open source RDP implementation solution. Microsoft, which recognizes the importance of RDP thin clients within its Windows Server ecosystem, also supports the FreeRDP project.

“This new partnership with Devolutions allows Awake Coding Consulting to remain committed to long term sustainability of FreeRDP, and to work on its first software product,” commented Marc-André Moreau, founder of Awake Coding Consulting, which also governs and provides expertise to the worldwide FreeRDP community. “This partnership is very exciting, since we believe the combination of our expertise will lead us to successful product development.”

“Over the last three years, the FreeRDP project has grown into an industry-leading solution backed by Microsoft and many of its partners, and we’re extremely proud to support an innovative open-source project such as this,” commented Devolutions’ David Hervieux. “We believe in the community behind the project and in its leader Marc-André of Awake Coding Consulting. Plus, with this partnership and the cross-platform implementation of FreeRDP, we’re able to bring added value to Remote Desktop Manager users who are using multiple platforms and environments.”

Additional FreeRDP-related news per this major partnership between Devolutions and Awake Coding Consulting will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
