Devolutions Kills Remote Desktop Manager Standard to Make Room for Remote Desktop Manager Free

Devolutions has made some important changes: the no-cost version of its all-in-one remote connection, password and credential management platform is now called Remote Desktop Manager Free. You can download it at: https://remotedesktopmanager.com.

""Several years ago, we chose the name ‘RDM Standard’ because we wanted to ensure our community understood that the no-cost version of RDM was fully functional. That’s still the case today, but now there’s no confusion at all about the price.""

In an effort to make life even simpler for its global community of over 200,000 users, Devolutions has made some important changes to the Standard (no-cost) version of its flagship product Remote Desktop Manager (RDM), and going forward will refer to it as “Remote Desktop Manager Free” on the company’s website and in all other technical, product and marketing-related documentation. Devolutions premium fee-based Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise offering remains unchanged.

The decision to make those changes was made for three key reasons:

  1. It helps current and future users more easily distinguish the release notes between the no-cost and Enterprise version of Remote Desktop Manager.
  2. It eliminates any potential confusion that some users had about the cost of an RDM Standard license. Now, they can easily see from the new name that there is no charge.
  3. It allows the company to offer customers a smaller download package: one that doesn’t include deactivated/inaccessible RDM Enterprise functions. The interface has also been updated to neatly hide all Enterprise Edition features.

“Several years ago, we chose the name ‘RDM Standard’ because we wanted to ensure our community understood that the no-cost version of RDM was fully functional, and they could use it for as long as they wanted without ever having to purchase a license,” commented Devolutions’ founder and CEO David Hervieux. “That’s still the case today, but now there’s no confusion at all about the price – which, of course, remains the same: nothing!”
