Devolutions Ventures partnership announcement for IT and MSP companies.

Devolutions launches Devolutions Ventures

Devolutions announces Devolutions Ventures, a corporate venture division that backs complementary IT and MSP companies. Investments to date include dbatools.pro, Mizo, Obkio, UniGetUI, Avalonia UI, PowerShell Universal, and ControlR.

Devolutions today announced Devolutions Ventures, a corporate venture division focused on backing companies and projects across the IT and managed service provider (MSP) ecosystem. That includes secure access, network performance, automation, and the other technologies IT teams rely on every day.

Devolutions Ventures builds on seven investments, acquisitions, and sponsorships we have made since 2025: dbatools.pro, Mizo, Obkio, UniGetUI, Avalonia UI, PowerShell Universal, and ControlR. Together they span AI automation, network monitoring, open source, and IT automation. Individual investments to date have typically ranged from $500,000 to $3 million per company.

Rather than pursuing a traditional consolidation strategy, the division is focused on building a connected ecosystem of complementary technologies that address the needs of IT teams and MSPs.

Advisors, not just investors

“We’ve spent more than 15 years building technology for IT teams, so we understand both the problems they face and what it takes to build for this market. We’re approaching Devolutions Ventures as advisors, not simply investors. We want to back strong teams for the long term, give them room to keep building and use what we’ve learned to help them grow.”

David Hervieux, Chief Executive Officer, Devolutions

Companies we invest in continue to operate independently. They keep their existing leadership and product roadmaps. They can also tap into a global community of more than one million IT professionals across 140 countries, along with our experience in go-to-market, security, and community building.

“Devolutions brought us much more than capital. They understand our customers, our market and what it takes to build a technology company in this space. That combination of investment and operating experience made them a particularly valuable partner as we continue through our next phase of growth.”

Mike James, Chief Executive Officer, Avalonia UI

What we look for

Every investment sits in the world we know: IT, MSPs, and the infrastructure those teams rely on. We back strong platforms, strong teams, and positioning that already makes sense to IT professionals.

The Devolutions Ventures page spells out the approach:

  • Independence by design. Teams keep their leadership and roadmap. We accelerate them; we do not absorb them.
  • A community, not just capital. Access to more than a million IT professionals and MSPs who already trust Devolutions.
  • Operators who have done it. Go-to-market, security, and community experience from more than a decade of building for IT teams.
  • Complementary strengths. Partners cover adjacent ground, including network monitoring and AI-driven automation.

Companies we back

These are independent teams we are supporting right now. Each one is complementary to the IT and MSP world we know. Earlier moves, including UniGetUI, PowerShell Universal, and the Avalonia UI sponsorship, sit alongside this portfolio.

dbatools.pro

dbatools.pro is our most recent investment. It gives SQL Server teams visibility across their whole fleet and turns repeatable DBA work into automation they can plan, run, and track. We also back dbatools, the open-source module the product is built on. It stays free and MIT-licensed, with more than 9 million downloads.

Obkio

Obkio provides real-time network performance monitoring for MSPs and IT teams, so they can detect, diagnose, and resolve issues before users feel them.

Mizo

Mizo builds AI agents that take on the MSP ticket lifecycle, from triage to resolution, so Level 1 teams can focus on customer relationships.

ControlR

ControlR is open-source remote assistance, now tightly integrated inside Remote Desktop Manager so support sessions stay in one place.

What comes next

Over the next 12 to 18 months, Devolutions Ventures plans to expand this network of investments and partnerships across the IT and MSP ecosystem, building on work already underway in AI, network technologies, developer tools, and open source software.
