Discord. Slack. Flock. Ryver. Teams. Mattermost. Chanty. No, these are not the names of rock bands, racehorses, or breakfast cereals. They’re popular channel-based messaging platforms that allow teams to solve problems, share updates, organize work — and yes, tell jokes every now and then, such as: “How many programmers does it take to change a lightbulb? None — that’s a hardware problem.”

And that brings us to May’s poll question (the platforms — not the jokes). As we did last month, this is going to be a two-parter.

The first part of the poll question is: What channel-based messaging platform(s) do you use to stay in touch with your team?

The second part of the poll question is: What are your best communication tips when using these platform(s)? Tell us what works for you, and tell us what doesn’t — so that we can benefit from your experience and insight.

You Could Win

Just by participating in the Mall poll, you’ll be automatically entered to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards. That’s more than enough to buy some new joke books to keep your team laughing. Want another one? OK, here you go: “There are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary…and those that don’t.”
