Poll

July poll results: What’s your favorite feature in Remote Desktop Manager?

July’s poll revealed the Devolutions Community’s favorite Remote Desktop Manager features: session management, cross-platform support, and—surprisingly—everything! Users also praised scripting, VPN integration, vaults, and more. Two participants won Amazon gift cards, and a new poll is coming soon!

Steven Lafortune

Hello! I'm Steven Lafortune—Devolutions' communication maestro by day, riff-slaying guitarist by night, and the ultimate hockey play-by-play guy in between. When I'm not rescuing Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda or watching the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy for the 235,476th time, you’ll probably find me rocking out at a show. Quick-witted, always up for a laugh, and full of fresh ideas, I bring the same energy to my work as I do to the stage!

Last month, we asked the community to share their favorite features in Remote Desktop Manager. Let’s take a look at the responses by highlighting the three most-cited features.

1. Everything

Multiple respondents said it was a struggle to pick just one favorite feature because they like EVERYTHING about Remote Desktop Manager! This is certainly encouraging and appreciated. Our focus is to continue empowering IT pros and teams with the best remote connection manager in the industry, and this sentiment tells us that we’re on the right path. We don’t base our progress or performance on awards or industry accolades. We base it on feedback from the people who matter most to us: our incredible global user community. We’re always listening to you!

2. Session management

Next, some respondents said their favorite feature in Remote Desktop Manager is comprehensive session management, which provides a centralized platform to launch, monitor, and control sessions across different protocols (e.g., RDP, SSH, VNC, etc.). Users can also record sessions for compliance, auditing, and training, as well as receive notifications when a session is in use.

By the way, for those new to Remote Desktop Manager (or thinking of giving it a try), we highly recommend watching this video, which takes a closer look at Remote Desktop Manager’s session management functionality—along with other key features.

3. Cross-platform support

Another favorite feature in Remote Desktop Manager mentioned multiple times is cross-platform support, which currently extends to Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. This is something we’ve been focusing on in recent years, and it’s great to see that it’s been well-received by our community. (Our CEO David, who in many ways remains an IT pro and developer at heart, is a big proponent of cross-platform support!)

Other favorite features

Here are some of the other favorite features in Remote Desktop Manager that were mentioned:

  • Jump server connectivity
  • All administrative interfaces in one place
  • Scripting with PowerShell and others (AutoHotKey, AutoIt, VBScript, etc.)
  • VPN integration
  • Playlists
  • Role-based access control
  • Password sharing
  • Certificate vault
  • Mobile access
  • Centralized and user-specific password vaults

Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll. Maybe we’ll turn the responses into a musical score inspired by My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music—but instead of “raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,” we’ll twirl and sing on a hilltop about “session management and cross-platform support” (uhh…we’ll think about this a little more).

The winners are

Now, let’s reveal the two poll participants who have been randomly selected to win a $25 Amazon gift card. Congratulations to Marco Krupa and Scott Bowling! Please email asguerin@devolutions.net to claim your prize.

New poll

The start of another month means it’s time for a new poll! We won’t give away too much just yet, but let’s just say the question is about something extremely important to IT pros—and it might be the most vital aspect of their entire career. Intrigued? You’ll understand everything in a few days—stay tuned!
